New Flights Opening Up Alsace
New flights "opening up Alsace" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Tourism in the Alsace region of France is set for a boost this year as a result of new flights from a number of airlines.
In December 2010, the scenic area was opened up to Scottish travellers following the introduction of a new easyJet route linking Edinburgh to Basel/Mulhouse airport.
The low-cost carrier operates a service to the same destination from London Gatwick, which has been running for a number of years.
Holidaymakers planning a trip to France will have a new travel option later this year when bmi and Swiss launch flights from London Heathrow and Manchester to Basel/Mulhouse, which is located in the south of the Alsace region, near France"s borders with Switzerland and Germany.
Set to be introduced on 27 March, the new route will make it easier for travellers to visit locations such as the Vosges mountains and explore the area"s network of rivers and canals.
Alsace also offers a range of culinary experiences, with more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other destination in France except Paris, according to the local tourist board.
Other travel options include British Airways" flights from Heathrow to Basel/Mulhouse.
