New mountain biking event in New Zealand by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British travellers planning to make the most of the raft of public holidays at the end of April this year by embarking on a trip to New Zealand will have the opportunity to see a new sporting event in the adventure hotspot of Queenstown.
The Ben Lomond Dirtmasters 2011 Downhill Challenge will run from 22 to 24 April.
Expert mountain bikers will be participating in the event, providing some impressive sights for spectators as they race along downhill tracks on Bob"s Peak above Queenstown.
Competitors will be transported to the top of the track on the Skyline gondola, one of the destination"s most popular tourist attractions, before riding through Ben Lomond forest and finishing on an existing track leading into the city.
The event is the brainchild of experienced adventure racer Geoff Hunt, who said: "I"m confident the course will be outstanding - it"s technically demanding, showcases our stunning scenery and finishes downtown, where there"ll be a full-on party atmosphere to cheer the riders on."
Tony Everitt, chief executive of Destination Queenstown, said: "We"re really gaining momentum as a world-class biking destination and there are more exciting developments to be announced in the next few months."
