Passenger Numbers On The Rise At Luton Airport
Passenger numbers on the rise at Luton airport by Cheap Flights Booker UK
London Luton airport proved an increasingly popular option among travellers catching flights in January this year.
Figures show that passenger traffic increased by 9.4% compared to the same month in 2010 - with an extra 50,000 people flying from the base.
Glyn Jones, Luton"s managing director, said the growth was fuelled by additional capacity on the airport"s 95 existing routes.
He added: "Travellers are choosing London Luton for the variety of destinations offered at competitive prices and our excellent transport links to London, the south-east and the Midlands.
"The hard work and planning of London Luton airport operational teams to keep the airport open during the recent freezing weather also helped minimise any disruption."
Almost 9m people travelled to and from Luton last year.
The airport is served by major carriers including easyJet, Monarch, Aer Arann and Flybe, which operate flights to destinations such as Paris, Marrakech, Barcelona and Pisa.
