Ritz-Carlton has opened a new hotel in Toronto, which "brings a new level of luxury to the city", the company claims.

The 53-storey Ritz-Carlton Toronto is the hotel chain"s only property in Canada.

It is located in the downtown area of the city, at the crossroads of the financial and performing arts districts.

Guests will be accommodated in 267 rooms offering views of Toronto and Lake Ontario, as well as amenities including bathrooms with heated marble floors and high-definition televisions.

The hotel also features facilities including a restaurant, bar, lounge and the city"s largest luxury ballroom, covering an area of 7,400 square feet.

Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, said: "We are delighted to be able to bring the Ritz-Carlton brand to Canada."
