Dominica welcoming more UK visitors by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Caribbean island of Dominica proved increasingly popular among UK travellers last year, with visitor numbers increasing by 6% to 4,601.
Recent promotional efforts have focused on the destination"s natural attractions and experiences, including its rainforest areas, waterfalls and exotic plant and animal species.
It boasts a number of eco-friendly credentials, including the achievement of being the first country in the world to be benchmarked by sustainability programme Green Globe.
This year, Dominica will boost the range of attractions on offer to its visitors with the launch of the first long-distance walking trail in the Caribbean.
The Waitukubuli route will run for 115 miles from the south to the north of the island, comprising 14 separate sections.
Joanna Walding, UK representative for tourism authority Discover Dominica, said: "We have noticed an increased interest in people wanting to experience the other side of a Caribbean holiday and it is very rewarding seeing this being reflected in our latest visitor figures.
"The Caribbean as a region has had its challenges last year, but Dominica is well placed to serve those who are looking to experience our "nature island"."
