EasyJet plans first flights from Manchester to Bilbao by Cheap Flights Booker UK

EasyJet will expand the range of services on offer to travellers based in northern England this summer with the launch of the first direct route from Manchester to Bilbao.

Three weekly flights to the city on Spain"s north coast will be available from 17 June.

The new connection will bring the total number of destinations served by easyJet from Manchester to 24, with a new link to Palma de Mallorca being introduced last week.

Bilbao is the largest city in Spain"s Basque region and is home to attractions such as the Guggenheim Museum and nearby beaches.

Ali Gayward, easyJet"s UK commercial manager, said: "Bilbao is a dynamic city that offers visitors a rich culture and vibrant nightlife; it is ideally located to provide visitors with access to other popular destinations such as San Sebastian and Pamplona - home of the famous Running of the Bulls event.

"This new route will build upon easyJet"s presence at Manchester airport and further strengthen the region"s economic links with the Basque Country."

Andrew Harrison, the airport"s managing director, predicted that Bilbao will prove a popular destination during the forthcoming summer season.

EasyJet also operates flights from Manchester to destinations including Marrakech, Athens, Malta and Copenhagen.
