Flights to Basel proving popular in Scotland by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Scottish travellers are showing strong demand for a new easyJet route to Switzerland.

The airline revealed that its recently launched Edinburgh to Basel service is proving popular among leisure holidaymakers as well as business passengers, who can choose from four weekly flights.

EasyJet describes Basel as a "great city break holiday destination and cultural hotspot" and an important business centre.

The city is the airline"s second Swiss location served from Scotland, with routes to Geneva available from both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports.

Hugh Aitken, easyJet"s commercial manager for Scotland, said: "The number of routes we offer from Edinburgh has steadily grown in recent years and I believe we play a vital part in Scottish tourism."

He added: "Improving connections for both business and leisure is a key priority and we offer a diverse range of destinations, with 23 routes now available from Edinburgh."

The service to Basel is the fourth new easyJet route to be confirmed from Edinburgh in recent weeks, with links to Tenerife and Grenoble and the country"s only direct flights to Athens also set to be introduced this year.
