Icelandair confirms non-stop flights to Reykjavik by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Icelandair is set to make travel to Iceland an easier option for people based in Scotland and northern England with the introduction of non-stop flights to Reykjavik from Glasgow and Manchester airports.

Due to get underway on 20 September 2011, the new services will replace the current "triangle" route that runs from Manchester to Glasgow and on to the Icelandic capital before returning to its starting point.

From Glasgow, travellers will be offered three weekly connections on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, while Manchester will host up to three flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The services to Reykjavik will also allow passengers to connect to Icelandair"s network of routes to North American destinations such as New York, Boston and Seattle.

Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, the airline"s general manager in the UK and Ireland, said: "These are two important markets for us and these new flights will mean less travel time and more time in Iceland for our passengers."

He added: "This action will also make us more competitive on routes to North America, which are extremely popular in the autumn."

Following the changes, Icelandair will reportedly offer the shortest elapsed flying time from Glasgow to Boston, New York, Orlando and Seattle and from Manchester to Boston and Seattle.
