UK "still top tourism market for Kenya" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

UK travellers continue to make the biggest contribution to Kenya"s tourism industry in terms of visitor numbers, new figures show.

The Kenya Tourist Board revealed that total arrivals for 2010 by air and sea numbered nearly 1.1m, an increase of 15.1% from the 952,481 recorded the previous year.

Visitors from the UK accounted for nearly 16% of all inbound arrivals by air and sea, with a total of 174,051 Britons travelling to the African country.

The US, Italy, Germany and France are also among Kenya"s most important source markets.

Overall, 2010 was the best year on record for the nation"s tourism industry, with levels of international travel surpassing the previous high set in 2007.

One of Kenya"s main attractions is its range of game reserves, which provide the opportunity to see lions, elephants, buffalo and other animals in the wild, as well as natural spectacles such as the annual wildebeest migration from the Masai Mara to the Serengeti.
