US "most popular country served from London airports" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Flights to destinations in the US were the most popular option from London airports last year, according to a new report from RDC Aviation.

The study revealed that nearly 13.9m passengers caught flights to New York, Orlando, San Francisco and other locations in America from London bases in 2010.

Spain was the second most popular country, followed by Germany, Italy, France and Ireland.

Germany (6%) and the Indian city of Delhi (21.5%) both experienced significant increases in the number of visitors flying in from London.

From regional airports, Spain proved the most popular destination with more than 16.4m people travelling to the country, while Turkey experienced the largest rise in passenger numbers with growth of 21.9%.

RDC Aviation"s report revealed that Heathrow handled more than 65.8m passengers in 2010, more than double the 31.4m recorded at Gatwick, the UK"s second-busiest airport.

Leeds Bradford achieved the most substantial increase in traffic last year, with growth of 7% from 2009.
