2m Brits To Enjoy Easter Escapes
2m Brits to enjoy Easter escapes by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Easter period of 21 to 26 April is set to see some 2m British holidaymakers embarking on overseas trips, according to Abta - The Travel Association.
Furthermore, the organisation predicted that "substantial numbers" will head abroad next week to take advantage of the long royal wedding weekend, which means that workers only need to book three days off for an 11-day holiday.
The perennial favourite of Spain remains the top overseas destination for Britons, according to Abta, with the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands attracting the most interest.
People looking for last-minute bargains were pointed towards Egypt and Tunisia, which are offering "excellent deals", while Florida and Dubai are also set to welcome high numbers of Brits.
Travellers looking overseas for city breaks will be catching flights to Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and New York, while London will be the top choice in the UK as it provides the backdrop for the royal wedding celebrations.
Abta chairman John McEwan said: "Easter is the traditional curtain-raiser to the summer and the royal wedding bank holiday has given a special boost to bookings.
"I am delighted to see that so many of our customers are taking advantage of the extra days off, either heading … overseas or taking a break closer to home."
