UK travellers planning a trip to South Africa later this year will be able to connect to a new Air France route linking Paris to Cape Town.
The airline will operate three weekly flights to the destination from Paris Charles de Gaulle from 3 November 2011.
A Boeing 777-200 will be deployed on the route, providing total capacity of 309 seats, including 35 in business class and 250 in the Voyageur cabin.
Cape Town is one of four African destinations being added to the Air France-KLM network this year as part of the group"s expansion across the continent, with flights to Freetown, Sierra Leone; Monrovia, Liberia; and Bata, Equatorial Guinea also planned.
Pierre Descazeaux, the company"s senior vice president in Africa and the Middle East, said: "After Air France started operating its A380 on the Johannesburg route in February 2010, the launch of non-stop flights to Cape Town illustrates Air France-KLM"s desire to continue its expansion policy in South Africa by offering customers 24 weekly services from its two hubs at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol to South Africa … from winter 2011."
