Air New Zealand-Etihad codeshare gets go-ahead by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Air New Zealand has received government approval to begin a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways.

The deal will see the Abu Dhabi-based carrier add its codes to trans-Tasman and domestic flights operated by Air New Zealand, which in turn will codeshare on Etihad"s routes from its home base to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in Australia.

Flights to Abu Dhabi from London Heathrow will also be included in the arrangement.

Codeshare services will be put on sale this week for travel from 18 April.

Furthermore, the agreement will include the integration of Air New Zealand and Etihad"s loyalty programmes, allowing regular fliers to earn and spend points on journeys with both carriers.

Etihad also announced this week that it is introducing a new inflight programme with the aim of showcasing some of the attractions and sights on offer in Abu Dhabi.

Travellers flying to the city from Heathrow, Manchester and other airports can watch the broadcast to learn more about the destination"s culture, heritage and visitor experiences.
