First city apps from Rough Guides by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Rough Guides is introducing its first city guide apps, which are available for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch devices.

The series begins with applications focusing on four popular travel destinations: Rome, New York, Paris and London.

Rough Guides claims that the new offerings allow users to "experience the city like a local", with a range of "off-the-beaten-track recommendations".

The apps feature information on major sights and attractions, as well as listings for hotels and restaurants to suit different budgets.

Satellite positioning technology also allows users to view maps of their destination and pinpoint the location of museums, shops and other amenities, while the "lucky dip" function offers suggestions for people who can"t decide what to do.

Announcing the new apps, Rough Guides encouraged travellers to "banish the winter blues and think about eating al fresco in Rome, boutique shopping in the Big Apple, exploring London"s green spaces or whisking away someone special to Paris".

The applications are available to download now for £1.79 each.
