Flight capacity set to reach record levels in April by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Airlines are set to offer "unprecedented" levels of flight capacity this month, according to new figures.
OAG, a provider of aviation information and analysis, revealed that the world"s air carriers are set to offer a total of 317.4m seats throughout April 2011.
The figure marks the highest ever level of airline capacity for April and is 5% up on the same month last year.
Frequencies are also on the rise, with 3% or 80,653 more flights scheduled to operate across the globe this month than in April 2010.
The Middle East, a region served by carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways and Oman Air, is expected to be the fastest-growing market in terms of seat volumes, with an 11% year-on-year capacity increase.
There will be some 6.2m extra seats available to travellers catching flights to destinations in the Asia-Pacific region this month, while low-cost carriers operating in Europe are offering 3% more seats than last year.
