Great Lakes welcomes Virgin flights to Chicago by Cheap Flights Booker UK
North America"s Great Lakes region has welcomed the news that Virgin Atlantic will be resuming direct flights to Chicago this year.
The airline will operate four weekly services to the city from London Heathrow from 9 May, with frequency set to increase to a daily connection from 22 May.
Visitor numbers in the region are expected to "soar" this summer, according to the local promotional agency, with the Virgin Atlantic route set to provide a significant boost for inbound tourism in the area.
Toby McCarrick, executive director of the Great Lakes of North America, said: "This is a welcome addition for the Great Lakes region.
"We are pleased to be able to offer UK travellers even more options for travel to this popular leisure destination, famous for the great outdoors and real Americana."
North America"s Great Lakes is the largest expanse of fresh water in the world, covering an area roughly the size of continental Europe.
It encompasses the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
