Rhodes Hotels Opening Early To Meet Demand
Rhodes hotels opening early to meet demand by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Hotels on the Greek island of Rhodes have been opening early this season to meet demand from holidaymakers, the local tourist board has revealed.
Traditionally, accommodation establishments begin welcoming guests in May, but many properties have brought their opening dates forward to the first half of April in response to a 10% increase in bookings.
Factors contributing to the trend include back-to-back holiday weekends at the end of April and beginning of May and Rhodes" good weather at this time of year.
The local tourist board revealed that recent events in Tunisia and parts of Egypt, combined with higher prices and overbooking at hotels in Turkey, have led to an increase in demand for summer breaks on the Greek island.
Tom Panagos, PR manager for Rhodes Tourism in the UK, said: "The recent developments in other Mediterranean countries are making people rediscover old favourites.
"Although Rhodes is a well-established destination for the UK market, our product is anything but tired."
A number of new hotels will be opening on the island this year, including Atrium Platinum and Sheraton Rhodes.
