Southampton airport targeting local passengers by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Southampton airport has launched a campaign encouraging travellers based in the surrounding regions to catch flights from the south coast base, rather than heading to London.

The initiative is focusing on north Hampshire and the M3 corridor to London, targeting key areas including Reading, Woking, Basingstoke, Farnborough and Guildford.

Starting this month and set to run throughout the spring and summer seasons, the "It"s my airport" promotion will aim to highlight the benefits of travelling from Southampton.

It will feature location-based case studies to show that, for many passengers, the airport offers a quicker overall journey time than its larger London counterparts.

Jan Halliday, director of marketing and communications at Southampton, said: "There are around 7.6m people living within 90 minutes of Southampton airport and so this campaign aims to raise their awareness of our airport as a viable alternative to London, where they might usually head.

"With around 50 destinations and excellent road and rail links, heading south can often be a much quicker door-to-door experience with less stress."

Southampton is the UK"s leading gateway to France, with carriers such as Flybe operating flights to destinations including Paris, Nice, Perpignan and Bordeaux.
