Travellers Heading To Sri Lankas East Coast
Travellers heading to Sri Lanka"s east coast by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Sri Lanka"s east coast is proving increasingly popular among travellers, the island nation"s tourist board has revealed.
Professor GL Peiris, the country"s minister for external affairs, said that growth in the region"s tourism industry has prompted the development and refurbishment of several hotels.
Properties that had fallen into disrepair have been revamped and are now seeing strong demand from holidaymakers seeking authentic experiences in the region.
"Trincomalee is a very beautiful part of the country and there are many hotels there," said Professor Peiris.
"Those hotels have been run down for a very long period, but now you can"t get a room there unless you reserve a room a couple of months ahead. Trincomalee is now the epicentre for tourism."
The government minister also commented on the safety of Sri Lanka following the end to a civil conflict in the country in 2009, reassuring visitors that there is "absolutely no problem" regarding security and that tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the region.
