Virgin Atlantic launches new plane on Orlando route by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Virgin Atlantic has launched its first Airbus A330, deploying the aircraft on flights from Manchester to Orlando.
The new airliner is the first in a fleet of ten planes due to be delivered over the next two years at a cost of about $2.2bn (£1.36bn).
Named Beauty Queen, the first Airbus A330 in the fleet is the carrier"s first long-range twin-engine aircraft, providing benefits including lower fuel consumption than the A340-300 model.
Virgin Atlantic"s first two A330s will be deployed on leisure routes, providing capacity of 255 seats in economy and 59 in premium economy.
Julie Southern, the airline"s chief commercial officer, said: "We are very proud to welcome Beauty Queen to our fleet today. After some challenging times for the airline industry it is great news to be expanding again and adding new aircraft to wow our customers.
"Not only does the A330 deliver savings in emissions and fuel consumption, it offers our customers a cutting-edge product which will transform their flying experience."
The new aircraft was introduced on the eve of Virgin Atlantic"s launch of new flights from Manchester to Las Vegas.
