Algarve to serve up "gourmet delights" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Holidaymakers heading to the Algarve this month will have the opportunity to sample some "gourmet delights" at a new event, the local tourist board has claimed.

The first Algarve Chefs Week will come to the popular region in southern Portugal from 14 to 21 May.

Head chefs representing the area"s leading five-star hotels will go head-to-head during the event, starting by serving up local delicacies to travellers arriving on flights into Faro airport on 14 May.

The culinary experts have also devised bespoke menus for visitors to sample throughout the week, which will be available every day between 19:30 and 22:30 local time.

Stephan Kuehlwetter from the Hilton Vilamoura hotel is among those taking part in Algarve Chefs Week, along with Fabien Martinez from Sheraton Pine Cliffs, Jose Domingos from Crowne Plaza Vilamoura and others.

Mario Candeias, a spokesman for the event, said: "Algarve Chefs Week will now be a major event on the Algarve cuisine calendar, perfectly showcasing the fantastic produce, talent and ambience of Europe"s most famous secret and ensuring a unique experience is delivered to each and every visitor."
