Austrian Town Launches Electric Bike Scheme
Austrian town launches electric bike scheme by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The medieval town of Kitzbuhel in the Tirol region of Austria has launched an electric bike hire scheme.
Some 275 "e-bikes" have been made available to rent in the area and 75 stations have been installed for recharging their batteries.
One of the main aims of the initiative is to enable cyclists of different abilities to ride together, as the electric bikes provide an extra push every time the rider pedals.
Levels of assistance are adjustable and sensitive to inclines and wind direction, meaning visitors will find it easier to navigate some of the long routes and steep inclines in and around Kitzbuhel.
Travellers planning to rent a bike during a holiday in Austria can explore more than 5,000km of mountain paths in Tirol.
Another popular destination in the region, St Anton, is offering a new Summer Activ card this year, providing benefits including free guided hikes, golf lessons for beginners and a Monday to Friday activity programme for children.
