BA Reaches Agreement With Cabin Crew Union
BA reaches agreement with cabin crew union by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The threat of future cabin crew strikes at British Airways has diminished with the news that the airline has reached an agreement with the trade union Unite.
A deal between the airline and the workers" organisation is to be put to a staff ballot over the next month, carrying a union recommendation for acceptance.
Unite confirmed that, in the meantime, it will not be calling any industrial action based on its present ballot mandate.
The union was represented in the talks by general secretary Len McCluskey, who described the agreement as proof that the dispute between BA and its cabin crew could only be settled by negotiation, rather than "confrontation or litigation".
He added: "We are delighted to have reached an agreement which I believe recognises the rights and dignity of cabin crew as well as the commercial requirements of the company.
"This agreement will allow us to go forward in partnership together to strengthen this great British company - good news for BA, its employees and its customers alike."
British Airways also welcomed the accord and revealed that changes have been made to help ensure that similar disputes do not occur again.
