Bristol airport is planning for a busy summer season this year, with more than 20,000 travellers expected to pass through the base every day at the peak of the holiday season.

In order to ensure that their experience is as simple and stress-free as possible, people planning to catch flights from the airport have been advised to arrive two hours before their scheduled departure time.

Shaun Browne, aviation director at Bristol, revealed that a high number of families are expected to travel overseas from the base this year to "guarantee some sunshine".

He added: "Although we will be making all efforts to provide a great start to passengers" summer holidays, check-in, security search and boarding can take time - particularly for families and large groups.

"By allowing plenty of time for their journey to the airport and arriving at least two hours ahead of the scheduled departure time, passengers can help us keep queues to a minimum."

Airlines such as Flybe, Air France, KLM and easyJet operate flights out of Bristol airport, serving destinations including Alicante, Mallorca, Amsterdam and Paris.
