Govt Plans To Make Irish Hotels Cheaper
Govt plans "to make Irish hotels cheaper" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
An Irish hotelier has welcomed government measures that are expected to provide savings for travellers staying in hotels in Ireland.
It was announced this week that a reduced rate of VAT will be introduced for tourism-related goods, meaning prices at accommodation establishments across the country will be lower.
Owners could also have more scope to introduce promotional rates as a result of a cut in employers" taxes for lower-paid workers.
The announcement was welcomed by Irish hotelier Ray Byrne, who owns Wineport Lodge, a boutique hotel an hour outside Dublin which hosts the celebrity chef show The Restaurant.
"This is great news for tourism in Ireland and for hoteliers such as myself," he said.
"Whilst we have always prided ourselves on the value we offer our customers at Wineport Lodge, these changes will help to reduce our overheads in a difficult economy and we will pass the savings onto our customers."
Travellers planning a trip to Ireland can catch flights to Dublin from dozens of UK airports.
