Greek tourism "making a comeback" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Following recent economic problems, Greece is set to stage a comeback in the holiday market this year, according to a local tourist board.
Tom Panagos, PR manager for Rhodes Tourism in the UK, said that Rhodes is already seeing the benefit of renewed interest in Greece, with international arrivals at the island"s airport rising by 132% in April 2011 compared to the same month last year.
He pointed out that the destination is offering a range of new visitor experiences, attractions and accommodation options.
"Greece is making a comeback this year and Rhodes is exceptionally positioned for those Brits who want to rediscover this all-time classic destination," said Mr Panagos.
"The weather, the beaches and the food have always been there, but over the last few years we have focused on upgrading our tourism product, with more than 100 luxury hotels on the island, a new terminal and a new marina opening soon."
Alongside Germany, the UK is the leading European source market for Rhodes" tourism industry.
Mr Panagos claimed that the island caters for all sorts of visitors, from families on all-inclusive holidays to travellers taking short luxury breaks.
