Heathrow punctuality at record level in April by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Airport operator BAA has released performance figures for April, showing that the punctuality of flights at London Heathrow reached its highest ever level during the month.

The number of services that departed on time equalled the record previously set in October 2009.

Furthermore, passengers benefited from a number of new provisions at Heathrow during the busy Easter holiday period, including dedicated security lanes for families, a play area and a pre-ordering service for baby milk and food.

The airport was also staffed by a higher number of multilingual customer service agents.

Colin Matthews, chief executive of BAA, said: "I am delighted that more passengers departed on time from Heathrow than ever before.

"These figures reflect the results of our £1bn annual investment and the commitment of 77,000 staff from 320 companies who work at the airport to improve the experience of our passengers."

Easter and the bank holiday weekends led to BAA"s six airports handling a total of 9.1m travellers last month.

Both Heathrow and Edinburgh - with 5.8m and 776,000 passengers respectively - experienced their busiest April on record.
