Irish govt praised for "positive action" on tourism by Cheap Flights Booker UK
UKinbound has praised the Irish government for its recent actions to support the regional tourism industry and encouraged UK authorities to consider doing the same.
The Republic of Ireland"s government recently announced a range of measures including a pilot visa waiver scheme for visa holders on short-term trips.
Air travel taxes and VAT on tourism-related services have also been temporarily reduced, meaning people booking flights and hotels in Ireland this year will benefit from lower prices.
Mary Rance, chief executive of UKinbound, said: "We applaud the recent announcement by the Irish government to implement these temporary reforms, which reflect a recognition of the value of the inbound tourism industry to the Republic of Ireland and show positive, tangible action."
She added: "We … call on the UK government to observe closely the impact these reforms will have on inbound tourism to the Republic of Ireland and challenge it to consider implementing similar measures."
Travellers interested in exploring Ireland this year can book flights to Dublin to start their journey by visiting the famous bars, museums and restaurants of the capital city.
Queen Elizabeth II is visiting Dublin today (17 May) as part of the first ever trip to the Republic of Ireland by a British monarch.
