Liverpool Airport Sees Busiest April On Record
Liverpool airport sees busiest April on record by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The company that operates Liverpool John Lennon airport has announced that the base experienced its busiest ever April this year, as a result of the school break, Easter and two consecutive bank holiday weekends.
Almost half a million people travelled through the airport - 33% more than in April 2010.
Last month"s figure was also 9% higher than the previous record for the month, achieved in April 2007.
Passenger traffic levels were similar to those normally experienced at the height of the summer season.
Robin Tudor, a spokesman for operating company Peel Airports, said: "We knew passenger numbers this April would be significantly higher than last year, having seen over 100,000 passengers affected by the Icelandic volcano in April 2010, however this year"s bumper April holiday period saw volumes of passengers surpass even our expectations."
He went on to say that holidaymakers based in the region made good use of the "great choice" of low-cost flights available from Liverpool.
The airport is served by carriers including KLM, Flybe, easyJet and Eastern Airways.
