South African Airways wins at Safari Awards by Cheap Flights Booker UK
South African Airways was among the winners at the 2011 Safari Awards ceremony, which took place in Durban, South Africa earlier this month.
The carrier was named the best international airline flying to Africa, while British Airways was the runner-up.
Virgin Atlantic took third place from a group of finalists that included KLM and Emirates.
The 2011 Safari Awards comprised a total of 21 categories, with Namibia overcoming competition from South Africa, Kenya, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia to win the title of Africa"s best tourism board.
Chiawa in Zambia"s Lower Zambezi National Park was recognised as the continent"s best safari property, with Zarafa in Botswana and Beho Beho in Tanzania taking second and third places respectively.
Other winners at the event included Gibb"s Farm in Tanzania (best safari hotel in Africa), Karkloof Spa in South Africa (best safari spa in Africa) and Londo Lodge in Mozambique (best safari cuisine in Africa).
