Travellers "recognising diversity of Brazil" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Increased interest in Brazil has led to a heightened awareness of the country"s visitor experiences and attractions, according to the national tourist board.
The South American nation"s successful bids to host the Fifa World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games two years later have already provided a significant boost in profile, with the effect expected to become more pronounced over the coming years.
One city that is already enjoying tourism growth is Rio de Janeiro, which welcomed 1.61m foreign visitors last year, up from 1.49m in 2009.
Chris Fuzinatto, director of the Brazilian Tourist Office in the UK, said: "Winning the bid to host the World Cup in 2014 as well as the Olympic Games in 2016 has shed a new light on Rio and subsequently the whole country has received more interest and recognition from tourists, as well as the media."
He added: "Tourists are recognising how diverse Brazil is as a destination and Rio is seen as a must-have part of any Brazil itinerary due to its incredible iconic sights."
Mr Fuzinatto also highlighted the importance of growth in air travel to the country, with several airlines boosting frequencies and launching new routes to Brazilian cities.
British Airways is set to double its number of flights to Rio de Janeiro from London Heathrow, providing a total of six weekly services.
