Travellers showing rising demand for mobile content by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Mobile content and applications are proving increasingly important to travellers, according to research by Frommer"s Unlimited.
The digital content provider carried out a global survey of 1,700 people and found that more than half (52%) of respondents are most likely to use mobile devices to access travel information during their trips, compared to 27% last year.
Nearly three-quarters (72%) of 18 to 34-year-olds access mobile travel content on holiday, according to the survey, making this age group the biggest user of services of this kind.
Identifying points of interest like attractions and restaurants emerged as the most important function of mobile guides, followed by finding key foreign phrases and local offers.
Giles Longhurst, director of Frommer"s Unlimited in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "Consumers are expecting instant, sophisticated travel content and, more often than not, they are relying on this content to guide them through an unknown destination.
"Businesses need to respond to this by bypassing the gimmicks and offering reliable and trustworthy mobile travel content that can offer immediate up-to-date answers to the questions that consumers have when on holiday."
The survey also asked respondents to name the main factors they consider when choosing a holiday destination, with "things to do" emerging as the primary concern, followed by price.
