Virgin and Air New Zealand launch new-look network by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand have unveiled their new-look network of trans-Tasman flights, which is at the heart of the airlines" new alliance.
The partnership will link Air New Zealand"s portfolio of 26 destinations to Virgin"s network of 31 airports in Australia, providing the largest ever Australasian route network for people travelling across the Tasman Sea.
Passengers are set to benefit from more convenient schedules on a number of routes, including those from Brisbane to Christchurch and Wellington, and from Sydney to Queenstown and Wellington.
There will also be increased capacity on Air New Zealand"s services from Auckland to Adelaide and Perth, among other connections.
The airlines are also considering some brand new trans-Tasman routes, with a final decision on these planned before the end of the year.
Liz Savage of Virgin Australia said: "With plans for the joint network now in place, we are focusing on the launch of our comprehensive product offering in early July.
"We will provide reciprocal Velocity and Airpoints frequent flyer programmes and lounge access in Australia and New Zealand, as well as a coordinated offering of inflight products and services, so that guests will receive similar first-rate service and benefits, no matter which airline they fly."
The new network will be operational in time for the northern hemisphere"s winter season, starting in November 2011.
