Abta recommends annual insurance policies by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Abta - The Travel Association has encouraged British holidaymakers to consider taking out annual insurance policies, particularly if they regularly take trips at the last minute.

A recent survey by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office found that a third of people did not take out any form of travel insurance the last time they stayed with friends or family overseas.

Sean Tipton, a spokesman for Abta, said that the easiest way for people to ensure they are covered for any sort of trip is to sign up to an annual policy, meaning they will not have to worry about any last-minute arrangements.

He also noted that travel insurance is now relatively cheap.

"Our general advice is that wherever you are going, especially if you are someone who is [likely to make] last-minute decisions on breaks, buy an annual policy," said Mr Tipton.

"It"s the easiest thing to do and also insurance is the cheapest it has ever been, it"s not expensive anymore."

The spokesman also described the small amount of money that travellers would save by not taking out insurance as "a false economy".
