American Airlines To Offer Tablet PCs For In Flight Movies
American Airlines to offer tablet PCs for in-flight movies by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The seat-back TV could become a thing of the past for passengers on American Airlines flights, as the company has announced that it will be handing out tablet computers instead.
First Class travellers on the US airline"s flights will be given a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which will come loaded with entertainment content and will be able to connect to the internet for an extra fee, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Around 6,000 of the devices are expected to be introduced on flights to New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the national newspaper adds.
No definite launch date has been given, with American Airlines simply saying that the tablets will be rolled out "later this year".
This development comes after Australian airline Jetstar recently tested the use of iPads for in-flight entertainment, while Alaska Airlines has replaced its paper flight manuals with iPads.
