BA Welcomes Biofuel Flight Path Plans
BA welcomes biofuel flight path plans by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British Airways has welcomed the announcement from the European Commission that an advanced biofuels flight path is to be launched across the continent.
The airline said that the initiative will provide an incentive for both fuel suppliers and carriers to pursue the development of biofuels in an effort to boost sustainability in the aviation industry.
BA chief executive Keith Williams said fuels of this kind represent a "great opportunity" for the sector.
He added: "This announcement will provide the incentive needed for European airlines to accelerate their plans to use biofuels to power their fleets.
"We are already embarking on plans for Europe"s first sustainable jet fuel plant and hope that initiatives such as this will encourage others to follow our lead."
The airline has set a target to reduce its net carbon emissions by 50% by 2050.
Among its strategies is the establishment of Europe"s first sustainable jet fuel plant, which could provide low-carbon fuel to power part of the company"s fleet from as early as 2015.
