Cape Town aims to develop tourism through fashion by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Promoting tourism in Cape Town is a key focus for the city"s upcoming Fashion Week, it has been claimed.
The local tourism board noted that African Fashion International has invited a number of big names in the industry to showcase their spring/summer collections at various places around the South African provincial capital.
Chief executive officer of the Cape Town Fashion Council Bryan Ramkilawan said international designers will not be the only talent on show during the event, which will run from July 13th to July 16th.
"Cape Town designers have an intellectual approach to fashion and are progressive and innovative," he explained. "We have tremendously creative people, they just need a platform."
According to Cape Town Tourism, young talent will be the focus of this year"s show, with a graduate design competition and interactive workshops on offer.
Statistics from the organisation show that the number of people who took a holiday in South Africa in January this year was up 9.3% on figures from the same period in 2010.
