EasyJet Plans Manchester Expansion
EasyJet plans Manchester expansion by Cheap Flights Booker UK
EasyJet has announced details of its plans to expand at Manchester, with new flights set to be introduced and additional aircraft based at the airport.
Fleet expansion is already underway, with the airline"s sixth plane arriving at the base in north-west England at the end of May and a seventh set to be brought into service in time for summer 2012.
The additional capacity provided by the new aircraft will allow easyJet to add to the 26 destinations it currently serves from Manchester.
Plans to launch flights to Madrid, Berlin and Belfast this autumn have already been announced, while other potential new routes are being analysed.
Paul Simmons, easyJet"s UK director, said the expansion is indicative of the strong support that the carrier has received since launching services from Manchester in 2008.
Andrew Harrison, the airport"s managing director, said: "This announcement is very important for Manchester, being able to reach an agreement for the future with the likes of easyJet to secure that growth is a big step and one that confirms its commitment to Manchester and the north-west region as a whole.
"This agreement will see more aircraft based at Manchester, equalling more destinations and further growth in the future."
Travellers can already catch easyJet flights to popular destinations such as Amsterdam, Tenerife and Marrakech from the UK base.
