Family holidays "becoming more adventurous" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Family holidays are becoming increasingly bold and adventurous affairs, a new survey suggests.

Aviva Travel Insurance carried out a poll of more than 1,000 parents and found that 94% had taken their own children abroad before the age of 16, while only 39% had travelled overseas themselves when they were young.

A quarter (26%) of respondents said they had been to Europe when they were a child, whereas nearly three-quarters (73%) had taken their own youngsters to the continent.

The study also found that, of the people who treat their children to two foreign holidays a year, 94% visit European destinations and 51% go to the US.

Nearly one in ten (8%) parents have taken a family holiday in north Africa and 7% have visited Asia.

Jerry Finch, travel insurance product manager for Aviva, said: "It is often said that the world is getting smaller and nowhere is the huge increase in the extent of our travel more apparent than the distances and range of places that people have been to before the age of 16.

"Children nowadays are better travelled and have experienced a wider range of cultures than ever before."
