KLM Takes Another Step In Aviation Sustainability
KLM "takes another step in aviation sustainability" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Sustainability is a key theme for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flights between Amsterdam and Paris, with the company looking to boost the use of biofuels on 200 journeys between the two cities.
Launching in September, the new flights will operate on biokerosene, which will be developed from used cooking oil.
Managing director Camiel Eurlings said his organisation demonstrated that it is possible to fly using such raw materials around 18 months ago.
He remarked: "Authorisation will soon be granted to operate commercial flights on biofuel. I am especially proud to announce that KLM will take this substantial step in September."
According to Mr Eurlings, for more providers to consider making the switch to 100% sustainable energy, the cost of biofuels will need to be reduced "substantially and permanently".
Earlier this month, KLM announced that it will be resuming services to Rio de Janeiro from Amsterdam, making the Brazilian capital the company"s 70th intercontinental destination.
