Marriott named as UK"s greenest hotel company by Cheap Flights Booker UK

According to a study published in the Sunday Times last weekend (12 June), Marriott is the ninth greenest company in all of the UK, regardless of sector.

The firm was praised for its efforts to achieve a green supply chain and its attempts to lay out green construction standards for hotel developers.

Furthermore, Marriott aims to reduce its energy and water consumption by 25 per cent per room over the next six years, and reduce its landfill waste levels to zero.

As well as having more than 50 green hotels across the UK, Marriott also works towards reducing its environmental impact in ecologically vulnerable areas, such as Brazil.

Guests are encouraged to donate to Marriott"s conservation project in the Juma Reserve, which aims to preserve 1.4m acres of rainforest.
