Mombasa "offers a relaxed and friendly feel" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers planning a trip to the Kenyan city of Mombasa have been told that they can look forward to a "relaxed and friendly" atmosphere.
Angie Sloan, UK director of the Kenya Tourist Board, said that the destination prides itself on providing a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay for its guests.
She also recommended some of the attractions on offer to holidaymakers, which offer a fascinating insight into some of the chapters from the African country"s past.
"Fort Jesus is a must-see attraction in Mombasa; it was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and served as a transit point for the slave trade," said Ms Sloan.
"Its monumental architecture is steeped in history and the fort houses a museum, displaying a selection of interesting artefacts from its past."
Travellers were also encouraged to pay a visit to the city"s Hindu temples, which feature on tours led by local guides.
Kenya"s tourism industry enjoyed a record-breaking first quarter this year, with the number of people arriving in the country in January up almost 40% compared to the same month in 2010.
