Visitors to South Africa have been advised to discover the KwaZulu-Natal south coast region this summer to catch an unexplained natural phenomenon.
According to the national tourist board, the annual sardine run, which takes place in June and July, includes billions of sardines migrating in giant shoals.
South African Tourism has described this unique natural event as "one of the greatest marine spectacles on earth".
Lebohang Mokhesi, the tourist board"s UK country manager, said: "The sardine run is a unique and unexplained phenomenon, which causes a frenzy of excitement amongst everyone that comes into contact with this annual migration."
She added that wildlife lovers arriving on flights to South Africa will also be able to see numerous birds and sharks trying to prey on the vast shoals of sardines as they migrate.
To coincide with this event, the local tourist board will be running their annual Sardine Festival from 4 June to 28 August.
