Almost half of travellers exceed holiday budgets by Cheap Flights Booker UK

A lack of preparation and planning means that almost half of UK travellers exceed their holiday budgets, according to a new survey.

Discount voucher website HotVouchers.com found that 46% of holidaymakers have spent more than they expected to on a trip away.

Some 48% said they found things to be more expensive that they thought once they reached their destination.

A further 39% said they get carried away on holiday and don"t think about how much they"re spending until they get home.

Prior planning could help travellers avoid going over budget. For example, making sure they buy all their essentials before they depart and shopping around for the best exchange rates could help bring costs down.

Budgeting for items like taxis to and from the airport could also help holidaymakers avoid overspending while they"re away.

"Paying for trips away really does stretch family finances," said HotVouchers.com founder Paula Felstead.

"It"s surprising that more people don"t take simple steps to manage their spending, stay out of debt and get the most from their hard-earned cash."
