American Airlines Fleet Renewal To Benefit Customers
American Airlines fleet renewal "to benefit customers" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
American Airlines has launched a major fleet renewal programme which it claims will provide benefits for passengers.
In what is thought to be the largest aircraft order in aviation history, the company intends to acquire a total of 460 narrow-body, single-aisle planes from the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families between 2013 and 2022.
From 2017, American Airlines will become the first network carrier in the US to take delivery of "next-generation" narrow-body jets, which are expected to provide better fuel efficiency.
The carrier said the new additions to its fleet will also feature "state-of-the-art" passenger amenities.
Gerard Arpey, chairman and chief executive of American Airlines, said: "With today"s news, we expect to have the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleet among our peers in the US industry within five years."
The airline recently boosted its range of customer offerings with the launch of new apps for BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices, providing more resources and up-to-date information for travellers.
