Finnair announces first biofuel flight by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Eco-conscious travellers may soon be able to choose greener flights to Finland thanks to a new initiative being launched by Finnair.
The airline is aiming to fly its first biofuel flight from Amsterdam to Helskini next week using a substance made from recycled vegetable oil.
It will be the longest commercial biofuel flight anywhere in the world to date and marks the beginning of a greener future for Finnair.
The carrier is hoping to fly at least three Amsterdam to Helsinki flights using a 50% biofuel blend in both engines.
In the future, it wants to adopt specific green routes to help boost the development of cleaner and affordable jet fuels.
"We want to be a pioneer in sustainable development in air transport," said Finnair spokesperson Kati Ihamaki.
"Engine emissions account for the biggest environmental impact of flying, so investing in research into alternative fuels is a natural way to try to reduce the load on the environment."
