Kids Bored During Holidays: Survey
Kids bored during holidays: Survey by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Some 77% of school children admitted getting bored during the school holidays, according to research by satellite tv service Freesat.
The survey, which questioned 2,000 families, also revealed that in an attempt to combat boredom parents are spending an average of £2,274 on days out during the break.
Families take their children on five trips, on average, during the holidays, and will spend £306 on petrol and £246 paying to get into various attractions across the UK.
Among the activities listed the most popular were visits to the seaside, nature walks, visits to the zoo and excursions to the park.
Of the families questioned for the survey, one fifth admitted that the school holidays would leave them in arrears.
Nick Trend, the Telegraph"s columnist, has suggested that people choosing to spend their holidays in the UK should pick their destination carefully.
For example, he suggested that Northumbria is probably cheaper than Cornwall, and the Lake District is less expensive than either.
