The Seychelles tourism industry marked a milestone last weekend, with the island nation welcoming its 100,000th visitor.
Swiss traveller Sandro Gianella and his partner Nathalie Goddi arrived at the archipelago"s international airport on Saturday (16 July) after catching an Emirates flight from Dubai.
Mr Gianella was presented with a gift bag including vouchers for a boat ride at Sainte Anne Marine Park and dinner for two at Les Cocotiers restaurant, while Ms Goddi was welcomed with a frangipani garland that was placed around her neck.
The visitors revealed that they were planning to relax and enjoy their destination with activities including fishing, diving and snorkelling.
Tourism in the Seychelles has been growing this year, with the 100,000th visitor arriving in the island nation a month earlier than in 2010.
Arrivals figures for 2011 so far are up approximately 9% year-on-year.
Commenting on the achievements, Alain St Ange, chief executive of the local tourist board, said: "It shows we are progressing and that we need to continue to work on our weaknesses to ensure our numbers remain positive."
