UK Women Spend More On Holiday Clothes Than On Holidays
UK women "spend more on holiday clothes than on holidays" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A significant proportion of British women tend to spend more on their holiday wardrobe than they actually do on their trip away, new research suggests.
While many UK consumers are still watching their spending as the effects of the global economic downturn continue to be felt, many are still determined to take a break, and moreover to do so in style.
Indeed, of those women over the age of 50 polled by the online fashion retailer isme.com, 85% said that they would be spending around £1,500 on their holiday wardrobe.
Notably, the study also found that the typical older woman is likely to pack five pairs of shoes and five handbags for a seven-day trip, while a significant proportion are also likely to spend more on clothes and accessories once they get to their holiday destination of choice.
Commenting on the findings, the website"s brand ambassador Lynda Bellingham advised women to "pack smart" rather than in-bulk so that they don"t need to splash out on new outfits when they could be relaxing on the beach or exploring a new city.
This comes on the back of a separate report from Freesat which revealed parents will often spend around £600 trying to keep their children entertained on holiday.
