BA And Qantas Boosting Partnership
BA and Qantas boosting partnership by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British Airways and Qantas are set to enhance their long-running joint services agreement (JSA) with the aim of strengthening their Singapore hub and providing benefits for travellers catching flights between London Heathrow and Australia.
Improvements will include the introduction of a larger Boeing 747 aircraft on BA"s route from London to Sydney via Singapore.
Qantas will construct a new premium lounge at Changi airport and continue its Airbus A380 services from Melbourne and Sydney to London via Singapore.
From early 2012, the Australian carrier will fly from its home country to Bangkok and Hong Kong, while BA will operate flights from the Asian cities to London.
This arrangement is expected to make the most of the airlines" respective network strengths and will also see BA increase the frequency of its London to Hong Kong route from 14 to 17 weekly connections.
Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said: "Singapore will become the focal point of the JSA relationship, with daily Qantas A380 services from Melbourne and Sydney and onward to London, increased British Airways capacity and a new premium lounge.
"The new approach is a smarter use of both airlines" resources that will enhance our competitive position in Asia and in the Australia-Europe market."
